Six Sigma / Lean Six Sigma Programme

Overview
Six Sigma is today being used by companies and organisations of all types to achieve breakthrough performance improvements in their processes so enabling best-in-class quality and customer service.

Six Sigma projects apply a comprehensive and proven set of Continuous Improvement tools to systematically drive the capability of customer and business-goal aligned processes towards the “Six Sigma” performance standard of 3.4 defects per million opportunities.

The projects are led by Black or Green Belts who apply the DMAIC problem solving methodology to Define the problem, Measure the process, Analyse the process, Improve the process and implement Controls to sustain the improvements.

Six Sigma can be applied in all industries and functions - including Manufacturing, Finance, Call Centres, Government, Healthcare.
The incorporation of Lean tools into the Six Sigma framework provides the most powerful process improvement approach available (Lean Six Sigma).

As your implementation partner, we can provide the upfront and ongoing support to initiate and sustain the programme. Considerations include: implementation approach, organisational impact, selection of projects and “Belts”, training and coaching requirements, measurement of results.

Black, Green and Yellow Belts are then trained to use the methodology and tools to bring about the project goals, supported by us until they attain self-sufficiency.

Black Belt, Green Belt and Yellow Belt Training

Black Belts receive four weeks of practical, project-based training. Green Belts follow a similar model but with two weeks of training. Yellow Belts receive two days of training, which enables them to participate as team members in Black Belt and Green Belt projects.

Green and Black Belt training usually takes place in one-week blocks, one month apart. Each week covers one or more of the DMAIC phases. There is a high emphasis on practising the techniques through exercises and application to the participants’ own projects. We use Minitab software to relieve the need for deep statistical knowledge and manual calculations – the focus for Green and Black Belts is on interpreting results.
Throughout the projects, our experienced Master Black Belts can provide coaching to help establish the use of the Six Sigma / Lean Six Sigma techniques and methods, and can assist with or provide Black or Green Belt certification.
